Pop star Justin Bieber is finally going to be charged for his infamous egging incident back in January. Although some reports suggested that he might get a felony, authorities have decided that a misdemeanor vandalism charge will do.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office told ABC News that Bieber will only be charged with one count of misdemeanor vandalism. The arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. PT, but prosecutors already said that the “As Long As You Love Me” singer will not be in the courtroom.
The incident happened back on Jan. 6, with Bieber and his friends throwing eggs at his Calabasas neighbor’s home. Later, a video of the incident surfaced on TMZ, and authorities obtained a search warrant to search the Biebs’ home. Seeing as the neighbor claimed Bieber did $20,000 worth of damage, a prosecutor said in May that he should expect to get a felony charge.
While searching the home, police took evidence, including photos and videos. They eventually determined that Bieber would only be charged with a misdemeanor.
Bieber has since moved out of Calabasas. His reps have not commented on the egging charge.
