Katy Perry and Kendrick Lamar have been hit with copyright lawsuits over their songs "Dark Horse" and "Keisha's Song (Her Pain)."
Flame, a Christian gospel musician, along with his producers have filed suit against Perry, claiming that her song "Dark Horse" is essentially a rip-off of a five-year-old song "Joyful Noise," reports TMZ and that it has associated their song with the occult and other perversions, which have hurt their standing in the Christian music scene.
"By any measure, the devoutly religious message of 'Joyful Noise' has been irreparably tarnished by its association with the witchcraft, paganism, black magic, and Illuminati imagery evoked by the same music in 'Dark Horse,'" the complaint alleges, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Flame, real name Marcus Grey, wants an injunction against the Perry single and both profits and statutory damages.
Meanwhile, Lamar is being sued by Woolfsongs Limited, over "Keisha's Song (Her Pain)," which allegedly samples The Alan Parsons Project's track "Old and Wise" without permission.
Woolfsongs says the suit was filed after being unable to come to an agreement over the matter and they too want an injunction along with compensatory damages.
