Despite all the rumors coming out about casting decisions and potential villains for the upcoming Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, these rumors might all be based on a fake script written by Clerks star/writer/director Kevin Smith.
Earlier this week, Latino-Review reported that DC Comics characters Victor Zsazs, Morgan Edge, David Cain, and Amanda Waller would all be featured in Zack Snyder’s upcoming superhero film. Later in the day, however, Badass Digest made the claim that Latino-Review’s information had come from a leaked script, which included various other characters such as Carrie Kelley (Robin in Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Rises), Kyle Rayner (one of the many human Green Laterns), and Jason Todd (a former Robin who became the gun-toting vigilante The Red Hood), among others. However, Badass Digest claimed the script was a likely fake for a number of reasons, including a rather absurd amount of fan service.
MovieWeb, citing a tip from an anonymous source, is now confirming that the script that Latino Review used was not only a fake, but the script was also written by Kevin Smith, who was commissioned by Warner Brothers with the specific intention to leak to (and intentionally mislead) entertainment and rumor mill websites. The report in its entirety can be found online at MovieWeb.
It is unknown, however, if this report is true. Kevin Smith, despite being quite vocal online, has neither confirmed nor denied the rumors, and, as Flickering Myth notes, he is probably the only person who could prove the story correct/incorrect.
Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled to be released in movie theaters on May 6, 2016.
