Lionsgate has announced that the plan to create a movie based around the story of Jeff Bauman, a Boston Marathon bombing survivor who lost both his legs.
As noted by The Hollywood Reporter, the film, will be based around Bauman’s book Stronger that was released in April and recounts Bauman’s experience on that fateful day back in April 15, 2013.
Bauman, according to his book, was waiting near the finishline while his girlfriend was running the marathon when two bombs made from pressure cookers detonated. Three people were killed, and 260, including Bauman, were injured in the blast.
The film will be written by John Pollono, who is known for writing and starring in an Off-Broadway play called Small Engine Repair. This film, however, will mark Pollono’s film debut.
The Reporter notes that the film will be produced by Mandeville Films, with Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman in particular taking producer roles. Scott Silver, the writer of The Fighter and 8 Mile, will also be producing. Silver worked with Liberman and Hoberman before on The Fighter, which starred Mark Wahlberg (pictured below).
Bauman and his fiancé Erin Hurley also announced today that they are welcoming a baby girl into the world. According to Fox News and the "Jeff Bauman - Boston Strong, True Patriot and Hero" Facebook page, the baby, named Nora Gail Bauman, came into the world both “happy” and “healthy.”
