As more and more details become public as to what will be showcased at this year's now heavily anticipated New York Film Festival, it has just been revealed that Alejandro González Iñárritu's upcoming dark comedy Birdman will be closing out the festival.
The announcement about the movie, starring Michael Keaton, Emma Stone, Zach Galifiankis and Edward Norton, among others, was made by the festival, from a press release found on their website. The screening will take place on October 12, just five days before the movie is set to come out in limited release in theaters.
This will not be the film's official premiere, however, as it has already been announced that the movie will be making its world debut at the Venice Film Festival, where it will be seen on August 17.
Still, Birdman joins Inherent Vice and Gone Girl as two movies that will be showcased at the festival. Both of those later films will be making their premieres as the centerpiece and opening films of the festival, respectively. Birdman will be flying its way into theaters starting on October 17. More details will be coming out about this year's New York Film Festival in the days to come.
