Over the fiscal year of 2014, which ended June 30, Nashville International Airport broke their record for amount of passengers going through the airport, indicating a period of growth for the airport.
A total of 10,627,239 passenger flew in or out of Nashville airport during 2014, which is a 6 percent increase from the previous year according to Associated Press. Indeed, this year has been one of record breaking for the airport, as earlier in June, the airport broke their record for number of passengers in one day. More than 20,000 passing through the airport on June 9, as reported by The Tennessean, which was the day after the CMA Music Festival.
Rob Wigington, the CEO and president of National International Airport made a statement about this annual record saying according to The Tennessean that, “This is a significant achievement for Nashville International Airport, Nashville and the Middle Tennessee region. This milestone passenger number reflects Nashville's flourishing economy and highlights the rise of travelers and visitors who are choosing to fly into and out of Music City."
This is the first time that the airport has broken its annual record for passengers since 1993. Currently, every day the airport has 380 flights arriving or departing from the airport, with 10 different airlines available.
