Neil Young and Crazy Horse cancelled their performance that was scheduled for Thursday, July 17, in Tel Aviv, due to current rocket firings from Gaza.
Security officials deemed it unsafe to have thousands of people congregate in one area, reported JNS.org.
“It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we must cancel our one and only Israeli concert due to tensions which have rendered the event unsafe at this time. We’ll miss the opportunity to play for our fans and look forward to playing in Israel and Palestine in peace,” said a spokesperson for the musician, reported Variety.
Young also stated that he would be donating money to the Louise Tillie Alpert Youth Music Centre of Israel, and Heartbeat, which are organizations that unite Palestinian and Israeli children, teaching and allowing them to play music together.
Other upcoming concerts in Israel include those of the Backstreet Boys, Lana Del Rey, and Lady Gaga, according to The Times of Israel. And as of now, these are still on.
