Snow cones. Ice cream trucks. Swimming pools. That’s what we’re all thinking about right now, being as it’s mid-July. It’s a virtual certainty that thoughts of ghosts, ghouls, and the latest album from Angels & Airwaves won’t fill our heads for at least a few months. Well, maybe the latter will…at least for me.
Yep, you heard that right folks. Tom DeLonge’s post-Blink band will release their fifth album, entitled POET, this upcoming Halloween.
“Angels & Airwaves will release a defining album of our career on Halloween,” lead singer Tom DeLonge announced on Twitter.com back in April. “I’m so proud. 2 years in the making…”
A little taste of “Strange Times” is already on YouTube, part of album that DeLonge calls career defining, according to BlastYourStereo.com
DeLonge says that Poet will be totally different from the bands previous albums.
"There are things that will never change, like my melodic sensibility and the way that I write,” DeLonge told AlterThePress.com. “But the song structures, arrangements, chord progressions and tonalities have all changed radically.”
With two albums from Angels & Airwaves and three from Blink-182 cracking the top ten of the US Billboard 200, it’s a safe bet that we can trust that whatever “new direction” that DeLonge is taking this album, it’s going to be fruitful one. In any case, we’ll just have to wait until the vampires, witches, and skeletons come out to play this Halloween to find out.
