The carnage continues on the set of Saturday Night Live as Noël Wells and John Milhiser get the ax from the show just one day after their co-star Brooks Wheelan announced his departure via Twitter.

These firings are a part of the first half of SNL’s cast changes. Deadline broke the story and reports that SNL rookies, like Milhiser, Wells and Wheelan, who all joined the cast as featured players in September, are usually the most affected by these changeovers. According to Deadline, an actor’s first year on SNL is the time period during which they are expected to make an impact. Upon their hiring, the actors are given one season to do so.

CNN reports that Milhiser’s firing is unsurprising as he got very little screen time during his stint on the show save for a few impressions, including one of Matthew McConaughey and another of John Cryer. Wells, the sole female cast member to join the show last fall, had performed impressions of female celebrities including Lena Dunham and Kristen Stewart. According to CNN, it had been speculated that Wells would stay to fill the vacant spot left by Nasim Pedrad who is rumored to be leaving SNL to join the new Fox sitcom Mulaney in September.
