Democrat politician, Joseph Morrissey from Henrico Virginia, is accused of having sex with the 17-year-old teen in his law office.
56-year-old Morrissey, had sexual encounters with the girl twice, both times in his office, reported The Times-Dispatch .
Attorney William Neely, who will prosecute Morrissey, described Neely as an “unethical” man.
“He had sex with her twice in his law office and texted someone about it,” Neely said briefly in a press conference Monday.
The teen was a secretary in Morrissey’s office who had lied about her age.
According to the Daily Mail, Morrissey’s lawyers claimed that the relationship between the two was ‘appropriate and professional’.
Officers were alerted by the girl’s father who was concerned about the relationship between the two. Morrissey and the teen were found in his townhouse.
Morrissey made an initial appearance in court today on his charges of sex with the minor, and the solicitation of pornographic images.
The politician is a single father to three daughters by three different women.
If found guilty, Morrissey could face up to 41 years in prison.
