While Robin Thicke has taken to the public sphere in an effort to woo back his wife with his latest album Paula, it appears few are interested and the album is tracking to sell fairly poorly in its first week.
Paula is currently projected to sell around 20,000 copies for the week ending July 6, which is a massive drop off from his last album, the hit Blurred Lines, Billboard reports. Still, due to low overall album sales, 20,000 would still be good enough to place in the top 10.
That would tie with his 2007 album The Evolution of Robin Thicke for lowest debut for the singer.
For comparison, Nielsen SoundScan numbers show that Blurred Lines sold 177,000 copies in its first week of release. The title track was also a hugely downloaded single, becoming the most sought after track in the UK in April, notes The Telegraph.
Reviews have not been kind towards Thicke's Paula, with many finding it either creepy or perhaps inappropriate, wondering how his separated wife must feel.
Billboard notes that Trey Songz' Trigga will likely top the 200 chart for this week as it is expected to sell more than 90,000 copies.
