The Scottsdale Resort and Conference Center serves up another winner this summer with specials throughout the resort. In the midst of Scottsdale, Arizona, find an oasis from the long summer days with the room, food, and drink specials. Although you can visit the resort just for the unique menu items at all of their restaurants, I highly recommend also checking out the numerous amenities during your stay, including the pool options, golfing, tennis, spa, or even the in-house movie nights.
To start off your stay, come in for the Fab $5 Happy Hour at the Sangria Lounge between 3 and 6pm everyday. Besides the free billiards and plasma TV's to catch all the action of your favorite sports, take advantage of the $5 food and drink specials. Sip on a glass of the namesake drink, or a "Who Spiked My Palmer" as you look out onto the golf course from the patio, or in one of the plush chairs around the room.
Make a reservation for dinner at the Palm Court, awarded the AAA Four Diamond distinction. Relaxed yet elegant, the Palm Court provides a special and unique experience. I like to start off with the Garlic Sauteed Gulf Prawns, prepared tableside. For the soup, my favorite is the Palm Court Lobster Bisque. Prepared with dry sack sherry and swimming with chunks of lobster meat, this is hands down a must. If you prefer salad, the Boston Bibb salad with shiitake mushrooms or the Washington State Apple with the French apple brandy vinaigrette are my suggestions. Dinner is a hard choice with a menu that spans everything from Pan Seared Day Boat Scallops, Spinach Portobello Ravioli, Pitman Farms Duck Breast, and White Wine Poached Maine Lobster Tail. This time around, I tried the Sauteed Pasture Raised Veal Medallions, and it did not disappoint. Dressed in a lemon parsley Beurre Blanc sauce, the veal medallions were perfectly prepared and had you tempted to just dip everything in the sauce. The veal came paired with oven roasted fingerling potatoes and fresh, locally grown organic vegetables. The staff are knowledgeable, passionate, and excited to provide recommendations on wine pairings with each entree.
Be sure to save some room to indulge in something from the dessert menu. A favorite is the always the Bananas Foster, impressively made tableside. I also recommend the Espresso Marsala Ole- an espresso dipped cake with layered marsala flavored marscaponeand dark chocolate mousse with a Rainer cherry puree. The cake was melt in your mouth and was perfectly topped off with the dark chocolate mouse.
After dinner at the Palm Court, you may think you will never eat again, but it will be well worth it if you stay for the Champagne Sunday Brunch. With everything from a Crepe station, omelet station, cheese display, fresh pastries and tortes, cocktail shrimp, and fresh fruits and vegetables, there is something for everyone, and going back for seconds is encouraged. Enjoy a mimosa and the early afternoon view of the golf course while trying to taste all the different foods the chef prepared for brunch. I recommend the Eggs Benedict and Baked Salmon, as well as the Carving station's Sugar Glazed Ham and Roast Sirloin with Bordelaise.
Finally, the icing on the cake so the speak is the friendly and hospitable staff at the Scottsdale Resort. Always looking to make your experience the best possible, they are courteous and very welcoming to regulars and first timers alike. Book your stay at http://www.thescottsdaleresort.com/resort_deals/
