Producer Noah Hawley revealed on Monday that the second season of FX's Fargo will take place three decades prior and though none of the current cast will return, it will still connect to the first season.
As previously reported, the Emmy-nominated anthology will be returning for a second season, only none of the original cast will return, not even the ones who survive.
However, that doesn't mean the first season will be left completely in the rear view mirror as Hawley revealed that Molly Solverson's dad Lou will be in the series, USA Today reports. It isn't clear if he will be the focus of the second season or not.
The series will shift focus to 1979 and be set in Sioux Falls, with some time split "in Luverne, Minn., and--um, Fargo, which is more of a state of mind than a location," the producer and showrunner explained.
Solverson has returned from Vietnam and is a 33-year-old state police officer. Molly is only 4 at the time and his father-in-law is a county sheriff. Hawley also noted that Duluth police Lt Ben Schmidt also might "factor in there somewhere."
The plan is to begin filming in January with a fall premiere date planned. The second season will be set in both the winter and spring.
