Steven Spielberg's upcoming Cold War thriller has found its female lead in Amy Ryan, who will be opposite star Tom Hanks.

Ryan, who is in the upcoming film Birdman, is set to play James Donovan's wife in the film, with Hanks playing Donovan, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In addition to the Ryan casting, several others are in talks.

Alan Alda, Eve Hewson and Billy Magnussen might possibly join the cast of the untitled spy thriller. The film will follow Donovan who is a lawyer tasked by the CIA to seek the release of an American U-2 pilot captured during the Cold War.

Spielberg is directing the film based off a script written by Joel and Ethan Coen, who based theirs off one put together by Matt Charman. The Jurassic Park director will also produce alongside Marc Platt and Kristie Macosko Krieger, with 20th Century Fox and DreamWorks financing and distributing internationally.

Adam Somner and Daniel Lupi are set to executive produce the film, which will be shot in New York and Berlin starting in September.

As previously reported the film is set for a theatrical release on Oct. 16, 2015. Earlier in the year Spielberg's other project The BFG will be released, on July 1, 2016, meaning he will likely work on both projects simultaneously.
