Shakira will sing along with Carlinhos Brown performing her song “La la la (Brazil 2014)”, and Santana, Wyclef Jean and Alexandre Pires will perform their song “Dar Um Jeito (We Will Find A Way)” at the closing ceremonies of the World Cup on July 13 in Rio de Janeiro.
According to FIFA, the Fédération Internationale de Football Association, Shakira stated that she has a close and intricate relationship with soccer, obviously being with Spanish star Gerard Pique, and said, “I just feel so grateful for the opportunity to come back to perform at the Closing Ceremony of this year’s FIFA World Cup in Brazil, it feels right.”
This will be Shakira’s third performance at the closing ceremonies for the World Cup. She performed at the closing ceremonies at the 2010 World Cup with her international hit “Waka, Waka”, which served as the official anthem that year, and “Hips Don’t Lie” with Wyclef Jean at the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
“Dar Um Jeito (We Will Find A Way)” is this year’s official anthem of the World Cup, and as Entertainment Weekly noted, Santana, Wyclef and Pires will perform the hit. Pires will also perform a medley of local Brazilian music with Latin Grammy winner Ivete Sangalo.
