Authorities said four children and two adults were shot to death Wednesday evening in a Houston suburb.
According to the Houston Chronicle, six family members were killed in an apparent domestic dispute and another relative, Ron Lee Haskell, was arrested after an hours-long standoff.
The deceased children, two boys and two girls, ranged in age from 4 to 13 and the two male and female adults shot were in their 30s. Click2Houston reported that two of the victims have been identified as Stephen Stay and Katy Stay.
Earlier reports suggested that the children were Haskell’s, however, authorities now say that he was an estranged relative.
All of the victims were shot execution style. A 15-year-old girl also suffered a gunshot wound to the head, but the bullet only fractured her skull. She played dead until the gunman left.
The sole survivor of the massacre was taken to an area hospital and alerted police to the suspect’s location.
A standoff with Haskell ensued in a neighborhood near the Spring home where the family had been shot. After three hours, he surrendered to authorities.
The 33-year-old has been charged with capital murder and is being held without bond.
