Super Typhoon Neoguri is on a path headed for Japan’s Okinawa Islands and is projected to wreak havoc once it hits.
According to AL.com, the powerful typhoon already has the strength of a Category 4 hurricane and is forecast to get even stronger as it approaches the Japanese island chain.
Japan is no stranger to typhoons, however, Neoguri is expected to pack a major punch and residents are urged to take the threat seriously.
CNN noted that Kedena Air Base 18th Wing Commander, Gen. James Hecker issued a statement on Facebook Monday warning people of just how bad Neoguri could be.
“This is the most powerful typhoon forecast to hit the island in 15 years; we expect damaging winds to arrive by early Tuesday … So be prepared! … Anything not tied down, even smaller items, could become deadly projectiles.”
The super typhoon’s name means "raccoon" in Korean and meteorologist believe Neoguri will dump around three inches of rain and hour on Okinawa.
