It has been known for a little bit that Annabelle, the creepy doll that stole many scenes in last summer's The Conjuring, would be getting her own movie. But it wasn't clear just when audiences would be able to see it, until now, as it has just been announced that Annabelle will be scaring its way into theaters on October 3.

Variety announced the release date for the upcoming New Line horror movie. With this date, the spin-off will be squaring off against David Fincher's Gone Girl and the Reese Witherspoon-starring refugee drama The Good Lie.

Taking over directing duties for James Wan in this installment will be John Leonetti, the cinematographer of The Conjuring. Wan is still producing, however, alongside Peter Safran. The movie will also be starring Academy award nominee Alfred Woodard, along with Ward Horton and Annabelle Wallis.

Considering that the movie is already in post-production, it shouldn't have any trouble getting ready for its new release date. With the release date set, as Ain't It Cool News suggests, a trailer should be coming out in due time. Perhaps in front of The Purge: Anarchy on July 18? Or As Above, So Below on August 15? Time will have to tell.
