The highly anticipated Pitch Perfect 2 is certainly receiving a lot of press lately whether it’s the cast feeling patriotic or Elizabeth Banks feeling the pressure as she makes her directorial debut to create a successful film. Just over three weeks ago, news broke that the popular a cappella singing group Pentatonix would be performing in the film due out in May 2015 and now a second group will be joining the cast.
Another Sing Off alumni, The Filharmonic , made up of VJ Rosales, Joe Caigoy, Trace Gaynor, Barry Fortgang, Jules Cruz and Niko Del Rey, is an all male group that was just on the show last season reports the Hollywood Reporter. All members of the group contain a Filipino heritage with a sound describe as urbanesque hip-hop with 90s’ nostalgia.
While it is unknown as to what the group’s role will be in the sequel, it can be assumed they will perform, or at least make a cameo, at one of the Barden Bella’s competitions. This is certainly shaping up to be a music powerhouse and a soundtrack fans will be dying to get a hold of.
Pitch Perfect 2 opens in theatres May 15, 2015.
