The tiny body of a two-year-old girl was found in a lake at a New York City park on Saturday evening.

NBC4 New York reported that authorities said Ruhshona Kurbonova’s body was retrieved from a lake around 6 p.m. She was reported missing earlier in the day at 1:10 p.m.

The Associated Press noted that the young girl was with her family at a holiday-weekend barbecue in Prospect Park when she and her four-year-old brother wandered away from them.

Frantic family members searched for the small children and only found the boy, who was soaking wet when he was located. He was not injured.

The girl's uncle, Dekzod Isokov, said that the children just "walked off and we didn't know."

Law enforcement officials combed the 585-acre park and a police helicopter assisted in the search until divers found the toddler’s body in the murky water.

Witnesses said upon hearing the news, the girl’s distraught mother collapsed and had to be taken out of the park on a stretcher.
