Born December 21, 1948, Samuel Leroy Jackson is an American actor. He has been credited for over 150 roles on the big screen. Throughout his early career he was known for playing the bad guy or acting out a drug addict. However, as he became more and more popular he began landing big roles and turned into one of Hollywood’s biggest action stars. With that said he has never won an Academy Award but was nominated for his performance in Pulp Fiction (1994). He did however win a BAFTA for that same role.

Today is he known for his role as Nick Fury in the Marvel film series The Avengers including all the separate superhero movies that are connected. In October of 2011 he surpassed Frank Welker to become the actor with the highest grossing film total of all time. His films have made approximately more than $7.4 billion according to HollywoodReporter.

Anyway, here are his top ten films of all time.

[new page = 10. The Incredibles, 2004]

This is one of the best animated films of all time. Samuel L. Jackson plays the character Frozone, Mr. Incredible’s best friend. He isn’t in the entire movie, but for the short time he is, his character is very cool. He provides a good amount of comic relief and at the same time is one of the coolest characters in the film.

[new page = 9. A Time to Kill, 1996]

This is a rather intense film and Samuel L. does a great job defending his life. This film involves a lot of different issues including rape, murder and the KKK. Jackson has a great performance that won him a Golden Globe nomination.

[new page = 8. Deep Blue Sea, 1999]

Jackson has another good performance in this film. He is supposed to be the voice of reason throughout the film and has a few memorable speeches. His best performance in the film ironically comes with his character’s death in the above video.

[new page = 7. Django Unchained, 2012]

Jackson plays the head house slave for a Mr. Calvin Candy (Leonardo DiCaprio) in this film. He does a great job acting as an old and compliant slave, but in reality he pulls more strings than more of the white men on the property. He is one of the antagonists of the film and is actually the last character to die. My favorite part is at the end when he kicks away his cane showing that his entire life has been an act.

[new page = 6. Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, 2002]

Jackson is once again the voice of reason in this film. He is a veteran Jedi and one of the main protagonists of the film. He has multiple speeches during this film as he is basically the leader of an army at one point.

[new page = 5. Die Hard with a Vengeance, 1995]

Jackson provides a lot of comic relief in this film and has great chemistry with Bruce Willis. He is playing a New York City shop owner who appreciates the law. He does a great job transforming his character throughout this film.

[new page = 4. Jurassic Park, 1993]

In this film Jackson’s character is never seen without a cigarette. He plays the head of the tech staff controlling the entire park. The character is assertive and provides some comical relief when dealing with Wayne Knight.

[new page = 3. Coach Carter, 2005]

Jackson’s character is the coach of the Richmond High School basketball team. He is also a former graduate of the school. Growing up in the area he knows most of his players will probably end up in jail instead of college. He is inspiring in this role because he is adamant about education being bigger than sports. He is very believable as a basketball coach and it is easy to believe what he is preaching.

[new page = 2. Jackie Brown, 1997]

Jackson is very intense once again and very smooth. This role lives up to his nickname ‘Mr. Cool’. He has very good chemistry with Robert De Niro in this film and he is very convincing in his role. The entire film is very enjoyable and a very intense thriller.

[new page = 1. Pulp Fiction, 1994]

One of the best films of all time, Jackson plays a mob hit man alongside John Travolta. His famous lines from this film are reciting a version of the Biblical chapter Ezekiel 25:17 to his victims before he killed them. He is once again very intense in this film and is very believable as a religious believer in god.
