The new trailer for Reese Witherspoon’s movie Wild, which is set to be released in December 2014, is sure to be a display of physical and emotional intensity.
Based on Cheryl Strayed’s national bestseller Wild, the movie tells the story of Strayed’s real life journey of self discovery as she hiked more than a thousand miles on the Pacific Crest trail. The memoir has been endorsed by Oprah’s Book Club, and was named the Best Nonfiction Book of 2012 by The Boston Globe and Entertainment Weekly as reported by Cheryl Strayed’s website.
Reese Witherspoon optioned the rights to the book early and clearly brings passion to the project, starring as Strayed. The trailer shows Witherspoon enduring the elements, with numerous flashes to her life before the journey and the hardships it contained. Along with problems with drugs and relationships, Witherspoon also portrays a woman grieving the death of her mother, with the character saying in the trailer that, “My mother was the love of my life.”
Along with the star power of Witherspoon endorsing the project, the film is also notable for its director, Jean Marc Vallé, who directed the Oscar winning film Dallas Buyer’s Club.
