This week’s column is about both drama and thrills. The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Them deals with one couple’s attempt to reclaim their love, Horrible Bosses 2 is the sequel to hit a kidnapping comedy and A Most Wanted Man is a thriller about illegal immigrants becoming embroiled in the war on terror. All three flicks have enormous star power between them, two out of the three are sure to bring voluminous laughs to moviegoers and the other is sure to bring out serious emotions given its severe subject matter. Comedies involving celebrities already in the limelight are always a draw, which is what The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Them has with its both young star-studded coming-of-age and adult, Award-winning cast members. Horrible Bosses 2 is the continuation of a smash comedy involving a funny actress going completely nuts and A Most Wanted Man has a cast involving a recently passed away beloved actor that is sure to bring his fans rushing to see him on the silver screen one final time.
The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Them is a drama starring Jessica Chastain, Viola Davis, Bill Hader and X-Men: Days of Future Past’s James McAvoy. The film’s plot revolves around one couple’s tale as they try to retrieve the life and love they once had and pick up the pieces of a past that may be too far gone to retrieve. The trailer shows their courtship, the relationship that develops and whether or not it can last. Each member of the cast gives 110%. The movie opens in theaters on Friday, September 26.
Horrible Bosses 2 is the sequel to the 2011 hit Horrible Bosses, which starred Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, Kevin Spacey and Jennifer Aniston. This time around, Star Trek: Into Darkness’ Chris Pine is thrown in the mix as Dale, Kurt and Nick (Spacey, Sudeikis and Bateman, respectively) decide to go out and start their own business, but of course, things don’t go as planned. The trailer shows the guys together again with some hilarious additions and Aniston acting even more deplorable and skanky than she was in the first film. The movie opens in theaters on Wednesday, November 26.
A Most Wanted Man is a thriller based on the novel by John le Carré, starring Rachel McAdams, Robin Wright, the late Philip Seymour Hoffman and Willem Dafoe. It was released at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and competed in the main competition section of the 36th Moscow International Film Festival. The plot centers on the 9/11 attacks on New York’s World Trade Centers, how intelligence was sought to develop suspects in the bombings so nothing similar could ever occur again, etc. The movie’s trailer displays wickedly serious performances from all three key members of its cast especially Hoffman’s angst and determination.
