Ladies and Gentlemen, Hercules is finally here! Thursday, January 25, 2014, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be rocking Grecian armor and shoulder length hair. This movie is nothing like Disney’s Hercules. Instead of being a skinny Demigod desiring to reunite with his father Zeus, Dwayne Johnson is a sword-for-hire. His life as a demigod was full of pain, loss, and devastation. A life of negativity draws him to a group of other men and women with a talent for fighting and gift of death for their foes. The group is hired by the King of Thrace to train his army. As they turn his soldiers into ruthless killers, they are forced to look back at the men and women they have become.

Hercules: The Thracian Wars definitely depicts a darker version of Hercules. Keven Sorbo’s Hercules was a noble man. Though Hera, Hercules step-mother constantly challenges Kevin Sorbo, he always overcomes her treachery. He doesn’t look like a man that has given up on his humanity. Based on the trailer, Brett Ratner has done a stunning job. Paramount Pictures Hercules is rated PG 13 for violence, provocative comments, partial nudity, and language. Some of “The Rock’s” movies are hit and misses. We will have to see where this one falls.
