Two American soldiers with the Israel Defense Force were killed in fighting at the Gaza Strip over the weekend.
According to the Associated Press, 24-year-old Max Steinberg and 21-year-old Sean Carmeli were confirmed dead by authorities and family members.
Both men were two of the 13 Israeli soldiers killed over the weekend from the fighting. 65 Palestinians were also killed over the weekend.
The two men were killed by an anti-tank missile that was fired from a Gaza home, reported Breit Bart.
Steinberg and Carmeli were both dual U.S. Israel nationals.
Carmeli lived in Texas and joined the Israeli army almost 4 years ago. He has two sisters that currently live in Israel.
Steinberg, whose family is from California, lived in Israel for the past 2 years, and made the decision to fight for the country when he visited on a trip.
“He was completely dedicated and committed to serving the country of Israel,” Steinberg’s father said.
