At least two people were hospitalized and more than 100 homes were evacuated after trains derailed in Wisconsin on Sunday evening and spilled several thousand gallons of diesel.
According to WISN 12 News, emergency crews responded to the scene around 8:30 p.m. in Slinger. Authorities said that a conductor and engineer were injured after a freight train hit parked railroad cars and derailed.
Officials said the accident caused more trains to derail and 5,000 gallons of gasoline to spill.
CNN noted that Slinger Fire Department Chief Rick Hanke said that more than 100 homes within a half-mile radius were evacuated due to concerns of fires and contamination from the diesel spill.
The train was reportedly headed from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, to Champaign, Illinois.
The accident is still under investigation at this time and both of the injured parties did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
Slinger, Wisconsin is a village in Washington County and is located just over 30 miles northwest of Milwaukee. It is home to more than 5,000 residents.
