An unedited version of Britney Spears’ “Alien” has been leaked, forcing its producer William Orbit to defend the veteran pop singer. Orbit claims this version of the song was recorded when Spears was warming up and it was never meant to be heard by millions of people.
Orbit took to his Facebook page to denounce whoever leaked it as doing it “in a spirit of unkindness.”
The producer, who has worked with other big names such as Madonna, said warm-ups “aren’t supposed to be shared with millions of listeners.”
He continued, “A generous singer will put something down the mic to help the engineer get their systems warmed up and at the right level, maybe whilst having a cup of herb tea andchecking through lyrics before the session really kicks off. It’s not expected to be a ‘take’.”
The song “Alien” has been replaced in her Las Vegas show with “Do Somethin’.”
According to Page Six, she forgot to put the microphone up to her mouth as if she was singing when the pre-recorded vocals played in the background.
“Alien” is off of Spears’ latest album Britney Jean.
