Universal announced on Thursday that Snow White and The Huntsman prequel The Huntsman has been given an April 2016 release date.
The film, which will see just the return of Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron, will hit theaters April 22, 2016, Deadline reports. The Huntsman will also not be a sequel, like people thought.
Instead it will be a prequel and focus on how Eric, the Huntsman, and Theron's Ravenna crossed paths. Frank Darabont is on board to direct and he is currently working on the script. Back in June, it was revealed that neither Kristen Stewart nor director Rupert Sanders would be involved in The Huntsman.
The studio also revealed that The Mummy reboot, which only announced Wednesday that Alex Kurtzman was stepping into the director's chair, will be released June 26, 2016. The film originally was penciled in for the April 22 date.
The Mummy is the first planned movie based around Universal's classic monsters, which the studio has envisioned will all exist within the same "universe." Kurtzman, along with Chris Morgan, was originally brought on to help shepherd and produce the flicks.
