Jungle Book: Origins, Andy Serkis’s 3D adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s famous children’s book, is slated to release on October 21, 2016, according to Warner Brothers’ United States office.

For the uninformed, Comingsoon.net recounts that Kipling’s 1894 book features a variety of stories with animal themes and character, with the most famous of which features the classic tale of an Indian boy named Mowgli raised by the animals of the jungle. This story, of course, was adapted into Disney’s previous animated adaptation of The Jungle Book.

Serkis’s film is not the only film to be made about Kipling’s book with Disney planning to release The Jungle Book, directed by Jon Favreau and featuring a cast Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong’o, Christopher Walken, Scarlett Johansson, Giancarlo Esposito, Ben Kingsley, and newcomer Neel Sethi. Favreau’s film is slated to release a full year earlier, on October 9th, 2015.

No casting announcements have been given for Serkis’ film.

As noted by The Hollywood Reporter, the film will be released alongside a currently untitled Blumhouse horror film from Universal Studios.
