Brittany Murphy’s father, Angelo Bertolotti, is so upset about the upcoming Lifetime biopic about his late daughter that he has taken legal action to attempt to prevent it from airing.
The film, The Brittany Murphy Story, will air on Sept. 6, the network announced on Wednesday.
“Lifetime has not been authorized to produce the true story of Brittany Murphy,” he told RadarOnline. “I should have been consulted. I intend to litigate Lifetime in a court of law.”
Bertolotti is still trying to reopen the investigation into her death, which was stated as acute pneumonia and anemia as well as a prescription drug overdose. Her husband, Simon Monjack, died five months later due to an almost identical cause.
Bertolotti insists that there was foul play involved and that they were murdered by poisoning.
Murphy’s mother, Sharon Murphy, was not consulted for the script of the Lifetime movie either. The network would not reveal their sources.
