Carla Gugino is set for a multi-episode arc on the upcoming dark comedy series The Brink on HBO.
The Night At the Museum actress will play Joanne Larson, a Washington lawyer who is at the top of her game, Deadline reports. She also happens to be the U.S. Secretary of State's wife.
The Brink follows three desperate men who find themselves having to try and prevent World War III during a geopolitical crisis. Tim Robbins is set to star as Secretary of State Walter Hollander, while Jack Black is Foreign Services Officer Alex Coppins and Pablo Schreiber is ace Navy fighter pilot Zeke Callahan.
Also cast for multi-episode arcs in the half-hour comedy are John Larroquette and Cass Bugge.
Larroquette is set to play Robert Kittredge, who is the U.S. ambassador to
Pakistan and Bugge is Embassy assistant Samantha Gregory.
Jay Roach is directing based off a script from Roberto and Ken Benabib. The three will also executive produce alongside Jerry Weintraub and Susan Ekins. Black, Robbins and Aasif Mandvi will produce.
