Celine Dion has placed her career on an indefinite hold in order to focus on her husband as he battles cancer.
According to CNN, Dion's Las Vegas residency performances and her Asian tour have been taken off her schedule.Representatives for Dion released a statement on her Facebook page regarding her decision to suspend her performances.
CNN reports that Dion's husband Rene Angelil, 72, had a cancerous tumor surgically removed in December. Angelil was also Dion's manager before his illness forced him to relinquish the position.
It would appear that Dion's own health has also contributed to her decision to place her career on hold. According to her statement, Dion has been fighting throat inflammation that caused her to cancel all of her scheduled performances since July 29.
Dion, 45, and Angelil have been together for more than 20 years, since Dion was 19 and Angelil was 45 and have 3 sons together. In 1999 Dion briefly left the singing business while her husband dealt with throat cancer.
