Chris Hemsworth and Charlie Day have signed on to appear in the upcoming New Line remake/sequel Vacation.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, who first learned of the casting, the film is set to be a sort-of sequel to the 1980s Chevy Chase Vacation films, this time from the point of view of his son, Rusty Grisworld.

Grisworld will be Ed Helms, who is now all grown up and tries to take his own family on a vacation, with unsurprisingly similar results. Christina Applegate was previously tapped to play Grisworld's wife.

Hesmworth is on board to play Grisworld's sister Audrey's boyfriend, Variety reports, while Day will have a cameo as a river rafting guide. The role of Audrey has not yet been cast.

Chase and Beverly D'Angelo will make cameo appearances in the film.

The film will mark John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein's feature directorial debut. The pair, who penned Horrible Bosses, also wrote the Vacation script.

Filming on the comedy, which David Dobkin will produce, is set to start next month after resuming production following a nearly year-long delay due to script rewrites.
