Ebola-infected Dr. Kent Brantly lands in U.S., arrives at Emory University Hospital

Dr. Kent Brantly, who became the first American citizen to be infected with Ebola in the United States, returned from Liberia.

On Saturday he was taken to Emory University Hospital, where he underwent preliminary medical tests, Samaritan's Purse revealed, NBC News reports.

Brantley first landed at Dobbins Air Force Base in Georgia and was able to talk to his wife, Amber, which said it "was a relief" to be able "welcome him home."

A Samaritan's Purse, a Christian charity organization, spokesman said, "She said he was in great spirits and extremely grateful."

During his time at Emory, Brantly will be kept in a containment facility, as previously reported and medical consultant Dr. Sujatha Reddy said the doctor would be kept separate and have a separate medical team attending to him.

Brantly, who was overseas helping West Africa deal with the Ebola outbreak, was not the only American infected. Nancy Writebol also contracted the deadly virus and will also be flown to Emory from Liberia.
