Emma Stone will make her long-awaited Broadway debut in Roundabout Theatre Company’s current production of Cabaret. The Amazing Spider-Man actress will take over for fellow movie star Michelle Williams, who previously played Sally Bowles when the latest production of the classic musical began.
Stone has a long association with the production. Back in April 2013, she was in talks with Roundabout, but scheduling issues prevented her from taking the part at that time. Then, last week, it was reported that the two sides were talking again.
Playbill reports that Roundabout confirmed the casting on Wednesday. She will play Sally Bowles from Nov. 11, 2014 to Feb. 1, 2015. Alan Cumming, who is now the only actor who can play the MC role, will stay on longer, as will co-stars Linda Emond and Danny Burstein.
Williams will continue playing Sally Bowles until Nov. 9.
Director Sam Mendes and choreographer Rob Marshall returned to helm the new production of Cabaret. They previously worked on the acclaimed 1998 revival of the show.
Stone was most recently seen in Woody Allen’s Magic in the Moonlight. She just wrapped work on Allen’s next film, due out in 2015.
