On Wednesday, President Barack Obama spoke about the beheading of American photojournalist James Foley and said that the world is "appalled" by the “brutal” killing.

ABC News noted that the president addressed the horrific slaying that was posted on the web.

“The entire world is appalled,” President Obama said in Martha’s Vineyard. “No just God would stand for what they did yesterday or every single day … People like this ultimately fail. They fail because the future’s won by those who build and not destroy. The world is shaped by people like Jim Foley.”

The terrorist group, Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham, took credit for the beheading of the journalist.

The president went on to say that there is “no place in the 21st century” for such a group.

As previously reported, Foley went missing nearly two years ago in Syria and his execution was posted online Tuesday evening. In the video, the group also threatens another missing journalist.

One English-speaking militant, covering his face with a black mask, spoke to the camera and directly addressed President Obama. British authorities said they are trying to identify that person, who may be from the United Kingdom.
