Authorities have said that four people and a dog were found stabbed to death inside a Southern California home on Monday.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the victims were found fatally stabbed around 11 p.m. at a residential home in Goleta. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has been conducting an investigation into the homicides.

At the time the deceased were discovered, a 46-year-old male was also inside the home. He was not hurt and immediately taken into custody as the sole suspect in the slayings.

Investigators have released few details about the case thus far and, as the Associated Press noted, the names of the victims are being withheld pending the family’s notification. Authorities also did not release the suspect’s name or a motive for the killings.

A planned news conference for Tuesday morning was postponed as officials were still unable to reach some family members.

Goleta is a small coastal town in southern Santa Barbara County located near the University of California, Santa Barbara campus.
