Capitalizing on the power of the element of surprise, rap group G-Unit released brand new tracks at midnight Monday.
The EP, titled The Beauty of Independence featured six new tracks with contributions from members 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo and Kidd Kidd. The tracks were released digitally.
According to The Associated Press, the release comes after the band reunited at the Hot 97 Summer Jam concert in June. The group had been silent since releasing their project T.O.S.: Terminate on Sight in 2008 and disbanding. G-Unit member and multi-platinum selling solo artist 50 Cent said that this time around, the creative process was helped by the fact that the group is more mature. "The artists are more developed than they were in the very beginning," he said.
50 Cent posted a photo of the album cover on Instagram.
The men seemed to have renewed their friendship with group member Tony Yayo saying, "You get all kinds of industry frustration, but I'll never let it happen again because I realized the only person that ever helped me in my life is 50 Cent, is Lloyd Banks, is Young Buck."
The Beauty of Independence is available on iTunes.
