A new trailer for David Fincher’s Gone Girl premiered last night during the Emmys and it only served to get fans more excited about the film, based on Gillian Flynn’s best selling novel.

The trailer runs just a minute, but packs in several scenes that will instantly remind readers of the book. Nick Dunne, played by Ben Affleck, is accused of his wife’s murder. There are also glimpses of other scenes from the book, including scenes Amy (Rosamund Pike) describes in her diary. That’s juxtaposed with Nick’s current dire situation.

Neil Patrick Harris, who is playing a mysterious man who loved Amy, and Tyler Perry, starring as power lawyer Tanner Bolt, are also glimpsed in the trailer. There are reports that Flynn changed the third act for the film, but the studio is keeping that under wraps, obviously.

This is the first trailer since a longer one was released back in July.

Gone Girl will be released by 20th Century Fox on Oct. 3, as the studio is obviously trying to get a few Oscar nominations. The movie will have its world premiere at the New York Film Festival, which starts on Sept. 26.
