A homeless Los Angeles woman was beaten by a California Highway Patrol officer.
The woman, 51-year-old Marlene Pinnock, feared she was going to be killed as the officer was on top of her beating her. The beating, which happened almost seven weeks ago, was unreported until now, reported ABC News.
“I think he was trying to kill me. He was trying to be me to death,” Pinnock said.
Pinnock’s attorney, Caree Harper, said the CHP have been covering up the beating which took place on the freeway. Pinnock and her attorney both want the man to be punished and criminally prosecuted.
The near fatal beating was recorded on camera and shows Pinnock holding up her hands as the officer continues to beat her. The CHP said that the woman was being stopped by the officer from hurting herself by walking into rush-hour traffic.
According to China Topix, Pinnock spent weeks recovering from her injuries, including a head injury. Harper said that the woman suffers from slurred speech as a result of the attack. The incident was recorded by David Diaz, who was a passing motorist.
"This is a grown man punching to the point where she could have died out there," Diaz said.
CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow and Officer Daniel L. Andrew are being sued by Pinnock for civil rights violations.
