Jackie Chan is responding to his son, Jaycee Chan’s drug arrest for marijuana possession. He wrote a blog post on Wednesday, expressing his shame and sadness.
"Regarding this issue with my son Jaycee, I feel very angry and very shocked. As a public figure, I'm very ashamed. As a father, I'm heartbroken," he wrote.
As we previously reported, Jaycee, who’s also an actor, was detained with Taiwanese film star Kai Ko last week after 100 grams of marijuana were found in their possession. They also both failed drug tests.
"Jaycee and I together express our deep apology to society and the public. I hope all young people will learn a lesson from Jaycee and stay far from the harm of drugs," he continued, The AP reports. "I say to Jaycee that you have to accept the consequences when you do something wrong. As your father, I'm going to face the road together with you."
Chinese President Xi Jinping’s crackdown has enforced harsh punishments for drug offenders and since June, there have been over 7,800 arrests in Bejing.
The scandal is particularly embarrassing for the elder Chan, as he was named an anti-drug ambassador for China in 2009.
