Jon Voight isn’t the only longtime Hollywood star criticizing the anti-Israel letter Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz added their names to last week. Comedian Jackie Mason threw in his two cents over the weekend as well.
In an interview with Fox News, Mason asked how these celebrities would act if their homes attacked by missiles. “Would anybody question our military for taking every conceivable action to put a stop to it?” Mason asked. “Only in the case of Israel, are the terrorists treated as victims and Israel the aggressor.”
Mason also appeared on the Aaron Klein Investigative Radio show Sunday, where he said that the celebrities that signed the letter “come from these kinds of anti-Semitic, low-class backgrounds where a Jew is the most disgusting thing in the world to them.”
He later noted that it’s ironic for them to make these comments when Jews remain in power in Hollywood. “And they all hire these people and they depend on them for a living. Every penny they made is made from Jews and they hate every Jew just by nature,” he said.
As we reported earlier this morning, Voight suggested that the Spanish celebrities who signed that letter “hang your heads in shame.” He later wrote, “I am asking all my peers who signed that poison letter against Israel to examine their motives...Can you take back the fire of anti-Semitism that is raging all over the world now?”
Cruz and Bardem signed a letter that appeared in European media last week and called on the EU to condemn Israel’s actions. They later issued statements clarifying their position, noting that they are not anti-Semitic, just against the use of violence.
