The release date of Jake Gyllenhaal's upcoming film Nightcrawler has been pushed back two weeks and will now be released on Halloween.
The thriller was originally set to hit theaters on Oct. 17, but Open Road Films has instead decided to move the release date back to Oct. 31, TheWrap reports, likely a move meant to avoid Brad Pitt's upcoming war film Fury.
Nightcrawler, which was directed by Dan Gilroy, will first premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September. Rene Russo, Bill Paxton and Riz Ahmed appear alongside the Brokeback Mountain star.
The official trailer for the film dropped in late July and shows a thinner Gyllenhaal intensely competing for work.
Nightcrawler follows Gyllenhaal's character as he joins up with other freelance late-night crime reporters in Los Angeles and he finds himself in a cutthroat world, where those quickest to crime or accident scenes stand to make a buck.
His character, who succeeds in the new position is also fond of telling anyone who will listen his mantra: "If you want to win the lottery, you have to make the money to buy a ticket."
