Jay Adams, a legendary skateboarder who was portrayed in Lords of Dogtown, had died of a heart attack in Mexico. He was 53-years-old.
The news was first reported on TMZ. Later, his manager confirmed the sad news to TheWrap. Adams has struggled with addiction in the past but was sober. His manager also said he did not have a history of heart problems.
Sources for TMZ said that Adams died on Thursday while on a long, three-month surfing vacation in Mexico with his wife. This was actually the first time he had been allowed to leave the U.S., since he has faced felony drug charges in the past.
The skateboarding world is already mourning the loss of the legend. Tony Hawk took to Twitter to remember him for “inspiring us to get vertical and to keep pushing the limits of what is possible.”
