Country singer Keith Urban has released a statement following the arrest of a man who has been charged with rape during a concert in Massachusetts.
The Boston Herald reported that 18-year-old Sean Murphy was arrested after raping a 17-year-old concert-goer on the venue’s lawn. Police told the Boston Herald that audience members are assisting the investigation of Murphy by turning in footage from the concert at the time of the assault.
Urban took to his website to issue a statement regarding the incident.
“My team and I were horrified to learn of the events reported in Boston this past weekend and our hearts and prayers go out to all those affected. This type of behavior stands in stark contrast to the spirit of our shows.”
The country concert in Mansfield, Massachusetts got too rowdy when one girl was raped and dozens of fans were taken to the hospital for alcohol related issues.
TheCelebrityCafe.com previously reported that 46 people were treated for alcohol related issues and 22 concert-goers were taken to the hospital. 50 audience members were arrested for out-of-hand behavior. Mansfield is about 30 miles away from Boston, Massachusetts.
Urban is currently on his Raise ‘Em Up tour that will be going on through September. Urban will return to judging American Idol once he is off of the road.
