The 66th annual Primetime Emmys are tonight, because preseason football is much more important to NBC than television awards. Since we have a few hours to go, let’s make some last second predictions.

While Robin Williams’ shocking death earlier this month will hover over the show, thankfully executive producer Don Mischer appears to have that under control. He has picked Billy Crystal to remember the iconic star and Sara Bareilles will perform a song.

Before that sad news, the main theme of the ceremony was going to be, without a doubt, a goodbye party for AMC’s Breaking Bad. The network split the final season in half, so it was eligible for two Emmys ceremonies. Last year, the show won Outstanding Drama Series, but both Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul lost for Lead and Supporting Actor. Tonight, that will change. While Matthew McConaughey should win for True Detective, Cranston will win it, even though he already has three Emmys for the playing Walter White.

However, True Detective will win Outstanding Drama Series. The TV Academy likes to spread the wealth, coming off of Mad Men’s streak (which was ended two years ago by Homeland).

Sadly, none of the actresses from Mad Men are up for Lead Actress in a drama. It sounds like it might be time for Robin Wright to win for House of Cards, especially after her Golden Globe win. Still, it would be kind of cool to see Kerry Washington win for Scandal. It’s time Claire Danes’ grip on this category is loosened.

Personally, I’m more versed in the comedies that are up and I’m a huge fan of Veep. Every second of that show is hilarious and it should finally win Outstanding Comedy series. Modern Family is slipping, sorry. Considering the praise Orange is the New Black has received, I woulnd’t be surprised if it takes this, though. But please...please give it to Veep.

With that in mind, I would have no problem with Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ streak continuing. Lead Actor in a comedy should go to Louis C.K. for his incredible way of performing as himself in Louie.

It’s still surprising that Brooklyn Nine-Nine is missing. Andre Braugher’s supporting actor nod is well deserved, but the show should be up for comedy series. It was the funniest new network show of the season.

As for the mini-series/movie awards, I’ll just say one word: Fargo.

Seth Meyers is hosting the Emmys tonight on NBC, starting at 8 p.m.
