The new R-rated comedy Let's Be Cops opened to a decent $1.2 million on Tuesday night.
Provided the film, which stars Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. who dress like cops, continues to perform strongly through the rest of the week, Let's Be Cops could earn $25 million to $30 million by Sunday night, Variety reports.
If the film, directed by Luke Greenfield, even comes close to that projection, 20th Century Fox likely will be very happy as the budget was only $17 million.
Still, competition for the weekend is expected to be fierce and Let's Be Cops likely won't come any higher than the fourth or fifth spot.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Expendables 3 and The Giver both hit theaters this weekend and holdovers Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Guardians of the Galaxy will both likely continue to perform well.
Recent similar R-rated comedies Fox is likely expecting comparing to Let's Be Cops are We're The Millers and Tammy, which opened to $37.9 million and $33.3 million over the first five days.
