Martin Lawrence has been talking about making a third Bad Boys movie for years and now it appears that it could actually happen. During an appearance on Conan, the Partners star said that producer Jerry Bruckheimer is putting it together.

“I just talked to [producer] Jerry Bruckheimer yesterday and he said it's real, they're working on the script, they're getting close, and it all looks good,” Lawrence told Conan O’Brien, reports E! News. Lawrence could not say definitely if Will Smith will reprise his role in the action franchise.

Lawrence joked with O’Brien that they could even give him a walk-on role. “We wanna cast you in it. You know what you could play? A crooked cop on crack,” Lawrence said.

“Yes! I think I was born to play that,” O’Brien replied.

Back in 2010, Lawrence said that was the perfect time for a third Bad Boys movie. However, it didn’t come to fruition. At the time, Lawrence told MTV News that director Michael Bay would even return, but that doesn’t seem likely. Bay recently said that he would not direct another Transformers movie and has plans to do a few different projects.

The first Bad Boys opened in 1995, establishing Smith as an action star. Bad Boys II came out in 2003.

Lawrence can be seen on FX opposite Kelsey Grammer in Partners on FX Mondays.
