Another movie is making the jump to the small screen. Martin Scorsese is reportedly working his his favorite network, HBO, and Paramount to develop a Shutter Island film. Dennis Lehane, who wrote the novel that Scorsese’s 2010 Leonardo DiCaprio hit was based on, will write the pilot.

The series is currently titled Ashecliffe and Scorsese will also direct the pilot. According to Deadline, the project originated from Paramount TV chief Amy Powell, who then took it to Scorsese and the producers on the original movie. Next, they got Lehane to work on a script and he liked the idea of writing about the hospital at the center of the film. It would focus on the secrets and scandals behind the hospital before the events in the movie.

Tom Bernardo was also brought in to co-write. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Scorsese, Lehan, Brad Fisher and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way are the producers. Laeta Kalogridis, who co-wrote the film, is among the executive producers.

HBO and Scorsese have a long relationship, since the network airs his Boardwalk Empire. which is ending this fall. He is also working on a rock ‘n’ roll project with Boardwalk Empire’s Terence Winter, which remains untitled.

This is also a big move for Paramount TV, which is trying quickly to get as many TV shows based on the studio’s movies to television as possible. Although the Beverly Hills Cop series didn’t work out, ongoing projects include shows based on Terminator, Ghost and School of Rock.
