In what might be indicative to the status of their relationship after the explosive elevator incident back in May, Solange Knowles did not sit near her brother-in-law Jay Z and niece Blue Ivy Carter at the MTV Video Music Awards while her sister Beyonce performed.
Beyonce’s best friend and fellow Destiny’s Child singer, Kelly Rowland, sat next to the “Holy Grail” rapper instead. She watched adoringly as Jay Z and Blue presented Beyonce with the Vanguard Award.
Us Weekly notes Solange made a quick appearance on the red carpet before the show but then bailed after just an hour. She posed for pictures wearing an H&M tuxedo jacket and pants as well as Stuart Weitzman heels.
Beyonce acknowledged the elevator fight on the remix of her song “Flawless” with Nicki Minaj, singing “Of course sometimes s**t go down/When it's a billion dollars on an elevator.”
The family released a statement after the video leaked, explaining “At the end of the day families have problems and we're no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We've put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.”
